How to measure a window or door opening
A rough width and height, measured in a couple of places, is enough to start an accurate enquiry. We always verify final sizes on site before anything is made.
The two figures that matter
For a first enquiry we mainly need the width and height of the opening. Measure each in two or three places (openings are rarely perfectly square) and note the smallest. Measure the actual structural opening where the frame will sit, not just the old frame.
Do it safely
Keep both feet on the ground where you can, never lean out of a window or over a balcony to measure. If an opening is high or awkward, an approximate figure plus a photo is fine; we will measure it properly on site.
Why we still measure on site
Your figures make the enquiry accurate and the quote realistic, but final dimensions are always site-verified before fabrication, that is what prevents costly mistakes. Capture everything neatly with the measurement worksheet, which builds a tidy brief you can send or print.
