Broken glass replacement

Cracked, shattered or fogged-up glass replaced in windows, doors, partitions, showers and railings, with the correct glass type for the location, whether that is toughened, laminated or a sealed double-glazed unit.

Sound familiar?

  • Cracked or chipped pane
  • Shattered or broken glass (safety risk)
  • Foggy or misted glass between the panes (failed sealed unit)
  • Scratched or damaged glass you want replaced
  • Glass panel needs swapping in a partition, shower or balustrade

Likely causes

Impact or stress crack

Knocks, thermal stress or movement crack a pane.

Failed double-glazed seal

A blown unit lets moisture in, so it mists between the panes and cannot be cleaned.

Toughened glass shatter

Toughened glass breaks into small pieces when it fails; the whole pane needs replacing.

Safety: Broken glass is a genuine hazard. Keep people and pets clear, do not pick up shards by hand, and be especially careful with overhead, low-level or balustrade glass. If a safety barrier (balustrade, pool fence, shower) is broken, treat the area as out of use until it is replaced. Tell us in the enquiry so we prioritise correctly.

What a photo tells us

Send a clear photo and we can usually gauge:

  • Where the glass is and roughly what size
  • The likely glass type needed (toughened / laminated / sealed unit)
  • Whether the frame is intact or also damaged
  • The safety situation, is it overhead, low-level or a barrier

Repair or replace?

Broken or fogged glass is replaced, not repaired. The important part is fitting the correct glass type for the location, safety glass where required, which is exactly what we specify. Where the frame is also damaged we advise on that separately.
